The 'Wegner Ox' series is a pearl of Danish design that embodies the unique, the dramatic and the exclusive. A personal favourite of Wegner, the iconic chair was first launched in 1960, upholstered in wool and constructed using unique but highly exacting methods. Not only the construction, but also the design, strained the 1960 launch. The extravagant design was considered ahead of its time, and the Ox Chair was not reintroduced to the world until 1989. By the time of its relaunch, the chair had not only upgraded its construction methods to a more innovative solution, but was now also upholstered in new exclusive fabrics, in collaboration with Jørgensen - renowned for its sublime upholstery craftsmanship. The construction was now - after a visit to the tyre manufacturer, Pirelli - made of foam rubber which further increased comfort. Comfort was at the heart of Wegner's design, combined with functionality and experimental design. The Ox Chair in particular draws inspiration from Picasso's philosophy, where everything "didn't have to be so terribly serious."
This matching ottoman shares the same beautiful qualities of the chair. Although small in size, the furniture achieves a voluminous look with its upholstered seat, combined with an elegant and slender frame. The ottoman is the perfect addition to the 'Ox Chair', helping to provide optimum comfort and relaxation. The furniture can also be used individually as an extra seating area in the living room or bedroom.
The 'Wegner Ox Ottoman' is available in a wide range of fabrics and leather types in various colours. If you would like to design your own 'Ox Ottoman' please feel free to contact us by email or phone.
- Frame made of brushed or black lacquered stainless steel. Seat with blind frame in solid wood and moulded cold foam, upholstered in desired textile or leather.
- Wipe leather with a soft dry cloth, or a soft cloth heavily wrung in cold clean water. If a wrung cloth is used, entire surfaces should always be covered to avoid staining. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. It is often better to leave small stains and let them fade over time rather than try to remove them. As far as possible, avoid placing leather furniture in direct sunlight.
- When cleaning steel, a dry cloth or a cloth heavily soaked in a mild soap solution is recommended. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. Stubborn stains should be removed with alcohol. Never use solvents, as these can damage the paintwork.
