The 'J39 Mogensen' chair, designed by the popular Børge Mogensen, is one of the most iconic designs in Danish furniture architecture and one of the furniture pieces that has inspired modern Danish design time and time again. The chair has achieved its iconic status through its versatility and simple yet perfected design, which makes it better known today as the 'people's chair'. And its versatility transcends both interiors and generations.
The chair's materials have been carefully chosen to create a design that ages gracefully and lasts for decades, without going out of fashion or losing its beauty. With a frame made of solid woods, beautiful lacquers and visible joints, Fredericia Furniture shows that they manage to recreate the amazing carpentry that gives an authentic feeling. The natural paper wicker seat is a classic in Børge Mogensen's design universe and contrasts beautifully with the solid wood while ensuring a great seating experience.
- Base in lacquered oak, oiled oak, soap-treated oak, soap-treated beech or oiled walnut with seat in natural or black paper wicker.
- When cleaning oiled wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or a cleaner for oil-treated wood surfaces is recommended. New oil must then be added to prevent the wood from drying out.
- For cleaning varnished wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. Never leave liquids on lacquered wood surfaces as this may cause the lacquer to delaminate.
- When cleaning soaped and untreated a soft cloth, heavily wrung in a mild solution of soap flakes. Always wipe in the grain direction of the wood. Never use water on untreated wood surfaces if it can be avoided
- Original design by Børge Mogensen, produced by Fredericia Furniture (1947)
