Byflou.com turns 16

Byflou.com was launched in 2009, 16 years ago. Back then, online shopping was still in its infancy and everything was new - both for the industry and, of course, for us. Our founders,  Marlene and Simon, passion for good design, has been the main force through unknown territory. It has carried us to where Byflou.com is today. On the occasion of the webshop's 16th birthday, we allow ourselves to be a little nostalgic. To do so, we've explored the archives and found some glimpses of the website over the years.



Byflou.com through the years


The webshop was Byflou's first real step. That's why it has always been the centerpiece of the universe we've built over the years. Our family tree has grown with stores in Denmark and webshops in large parts of Europe. This has not only made the Byflou family bigger, but also made it possible to reach even more of our inspiring customers.

While we love to offer the latest products and the best design, inspiration has always been our focal point. To communicate the latest trends, provide insight into the Danish and Scandinavian design world - and, last but not least, share our passion for high-quality products with you. That is our philosophy.

Our philosophy has been the value base for our website - also in a physical sense. It requires a certain balance to keep up with everything new that the design world brings and at the same time maintain our identity. But we make a virtue of it. And today, 16 years later, we're proud that we still recognize ourselves in the website.

Our logo has gone through a few redesigns, but we've always stuck to the same elegant font. It's used in our logo, across our website, on packaging and in stores. Likewise, the beautiful dusty-bordeaux-red color has been a fixture on the website - you'll see it when you (hopefully) add a product to your basket in a few moments. These are just some of the elements we've held on to over the years. The website has evolved a lot. We've stuck to the clean design, but over time the site has been modernized, adapted and gently refined.


Byflou.com's blog universe


When we focus so much on inspiration and spreading good taste, it's because we want to create our own design universe. Back in 2015, a creative haven emerged on the website when co-founder Marlene wrote her first blog post. Back then, 'blogging' was one of the most influential ways to inspire, and it was important to us that Byflou not only followed - but also made its mark.

We've always had a dream of sharing our expertise to help our customers create beautiful homes and trendy wardrobes. Already in the very first blog post, Marlene articulated the vision for the blog - words that still hold true today. Here you can read the original blog post in Danish.

Over time, growth accelerated and time disappeared between hands. The blog was put on hold and overshadowed by social media. But the vision to inspire, communicate and share our expertise was never forgotten. In 2022, the blog was revived and modernized with the same vision from 2015, and can today be found under the name 'Byflou Journal'.


16 years of birthday celebrations

At Byflou, we are not hesitant to celebrate the many milestones we reach on our journey. Our birthday is particularly close to our hearts as it reminds us of how far we've come on our journey. And as our family tree of stores has grown over the years, we've had even more reasons to celebrate both our development and our loyal customers. Our birthdays have evolved into a creative playground where we let our imaginations run wild and dare to be a little extra bold with the look of the website. You may have noticed how our banners, ads and graphics get a little extra flair on these special days - but always with respect for our identity and philosophy.
