MENU SPACE, BY LASSEN AND THE AUDO MERGE INTO A NEW DESIGN UNIVERSE
From the merger of two Danish design giants, MENU Space and By Lassen, Audo Copenhagen has emerged as a new and revolutionary player. This remarkable merger represents both a century of Danish design tradition and a modern, global perspective that constantly strives for the evolution and design trends of the future.
By uniting heritage and contemporary design, Danish roots and global ambitions, and people and projects all over the world, Audo Copenhagen acts as a catalyst for creativity and collaborative innovation. A concept that is embodied both physically in Audo House and in the mindset of the creators behind the many Audo designs.
Audo Copenhagen
A fusion of three Danish design profiles
MENU SPACE
Founded in 1978 by Simon Hansen, MENU Space was a prominent player in Scandinavian design. The company collaborated with talented designers and created products that united people and space. MENU was characterised by visually appealing design that strived to make the world a little less complicated and collaborated with global design talent to create modern classics.
BY LASSEN
By Lassen was established in 2008 to reintroduce Danish design classics by the Lassen brothers, Mogens and Flemming, who were considered some of Denmark's greatest designers at the time. The brothers grew up in an artistic family and developed an early passion for architecture and design. Both brothers helped bring functionalism to Denmark, where design is created to fulfil its function rather than aesthetics.
THE AUDO
The Audo was a creative hybrid between MENU and Norm Architects' designs, brought together in one universe at Copenhagen's North Harbour - a unique concept that reflected the intersection of home, work and hospitality in a simple, community-building universe. The Audo is now called Audo House, but still manages to unite event facilities, café, restaurant and concept store, as well as an exclusive hotel residence in one.
A new design philosophy
Audo Copenhagen's design philosophy embraces an aesthetic dubbed "Soft Minimalism". A philosophy that pursues an aesthetic vision of clean lines, calm expressions, subtle strength, earthy colours and materials derived from nature and crafted with the utmost respect. Soft minimalism promotes creative immersion and harmony. It adapts to different architectural styles that are appropriate for both residential and commercial settings. Its timelessness means Audo furniture can be enjoyed for generations and accompany you as we enter new, creative chapters in life.
Nothing is more precious than human connection, which is why community is one of the strongest values at Audo Copenhagen. Wherever there is space, there is always an opportunity for community. Each and every Audo design is created to serve a function with depth of form and feeling, allowing for a sense of community wherever you are in the world. By mixing and matching heirlooms with modern design, you can create unique and contrasting spaces that embody both history and the future. The quest to create a sense of community elevates the value of the objects and spaces we inhabit.
