The 'Gallery' stool was not only Hans Sandgren Jakobsen's own personal breakthrough, but also extended the boundaries of veneer's possibilities as a central material. 'Gallery' was designed in 1998 in collaboration with Fredericia. Jakobsen's main focus was not only to challenge the boundaries of the material, but also to embrace the aesthetics of simplicity, familiar to many of the great Nordic designers such as Børge Mogensen and Hans J. Wegner. This design philosophy helped give the 'Gallery Stool' the iconic status it has today, and has brought home every prestigious award to the delight of both Hans Jakobsen himself, but also the roads of Danish design architecture.
Objectively simple in its construction, the furniture possesses a deeper complexity in its design language, balancing organic soft forms and simple minimalist lines. Viewed from the front, the beautiful curve of the seat becomes apparent. Viewed in profile, however, the furniture's many dimensions come into view, as does the single iron bar that discreetly holds it together.
- Available in black lacquered ash or lacquered walnut (70% FSC Mix).
- For cleaning lacquered wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. Never leave liquids on lacquered wood surfaces as this may cause the lacquer to delaminate.
