Trash Can from VippVipp15 Rubbish Bin
This is a garbage can - a garbage can made of garbage.
Vipp has made this new, Vipp15, bin made of waste.
Highly identifiable but made from a revised material composition of leftovers, 'Rubbish' is Vipp's new version of its 1939 pedal bin, a design classic now available in 75% recycled material.
Without changing the design of the original Vipp15 pedal bin made by Holger Nielsen in Randers, Denmark in 1939, Vipp's team of engineers challenged themselves to rethink the production of the pedal bin with the aim of radically reducing raw materials by recycling their own production waste.
Each bin replaces 3.7 kg of steel with plastic and sawdust that would otherwise be burned in a waste incinerator. Recycling the wood means that CO2 is stored in the product instead of being released into the atmosphere.
To minimise the use of steel, the bin's inner compartment is fitted with a metal ring for mounting Vipp's regenerated plastic liners, replacing the standard galvanised inner bin. The original dome-shaped stainless steel lid remains intact as a unique design feature of the original bin. Rubber components and pedal mechanism are replicated equally from the standard bin due to its proven longevity and durability.
