"Piet Hein: A Biography" is a beautifully illustrated work about one of Denmark's greatest and internationally recognized cultural personalities, the poet, artist, inventor and designer Piet Hein (1905-1996). During his lifetime, Piet Hein achieved a popularity unparalleled in modern Danish cultural history. His "Gruk" poems, which have sold over 1.5 million copies and been translated into more than 20 languages, are among the most quoted works by a Danish poet. The collection also includes 3,100 registered ideas, with notable contributions such as the super ellipse and the super egg in Danish design. The first comprehensive and popular biography of Piet Hein will be published in October 2023 with the first volume, "The Early Years 1905-1956", covering his early life and upbringing as a designer and poet in Denmark. The second volume, "The Mature Years 1957-1996", will follow in October 2024. Author Peter Borberg, born in 1972, had exclusive access to Hein's private archives through Hein's son, Hugo Piet Hein. These archives contain thousands of letters, newspaper articles, documents, photographs, drawings and drafts of unpublished products. Borberg, who holds an MA. in Nordic language and literature and a journalist, has published several cultural and documentary books, including the well-received "Storm P: A Biography" (2017), which earned him the Storm P. Prize in 2018.
