The 'Spine' series was originally designed for a number of elite restaurants on the Copenhagen gourmet scene in 2011. Since then, the range has made a splash on the international scene, and can be found in some of the largest and most luxurious restaurants, hotels and private residences. The series combines a familiar design, characterised by its Scandinavian origins from Space Copenhagen, with unorthodox details that capture the viewer in a whole new experience of design and furniture architecture.
The chair's signature detail - the slender y-shaped frame of the chair's centre - depicts a spine, hence the name 'Spine', adding an illustrative playful detail not seen before. The 'Spine' furniture is created with generous proportions, creating a relaxed seating experience and ensuring many hours of comfortable conversation in the living room and around the dining table. The series' choice of materials, consisting of a classic combination of leather and wood, is executed by world-class carpentry at Fredericia Furniture, using upholstery methods also seen on the iconic 'Spanish Chair'. The materials allow the furniture to patina over the years, gaining a unique charm and personality as more and more signs of use show on the furniture.
The 'Spine' series is available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers in various colours, as well as different wood finishes. If you would like to design your own 'Spine' furniture, please feel free to contact us by email or phone.
- Frame in clear/black lacquered or smoked oiled oak with powder coated aluminium transoms. Seat shell in plywood with beech core. Seat polished with CMHR foam and upholstered in desired textile or leather, finished with welting.
- For cleaning lacquered wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. Never leave liquids on lacquered wood surfaces as this may cause the lacquer to delaminate.
- When cleaning oiled wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or a cleaner for oil-treated wood surfaces is recommended. New oil must then be added to prevent the wood from drying out.
- Avoid letting textiles and leather come into contact with liquids or oils. If staining occurs, professional cleaning is recommended. When cleaning frames, use a damp cloth without harsh chemicals.
