In 1957, Lyngby Porcelain produced the world's first porcelain thermo tableware. The designer behind it, Axel Brüel, worked at Lyngby Porcelain as an artistic adviser and gained a great influence on the clean and functionalist design direction of Lyngby Porcelain in the 1950s and 60s. Thermodan products have double walls like a thermos bottle. This ensured that the coffee kept the hot temperature longer and no one burned the fingers. The design received great attention and recognition in the industry and Thermodan received a silver medal at Milan Triennale in 1960. Then the series was exhibited at the Louvre in Paris and at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where it is still part of the permanent collection.
