'Ditzel Lounge Chair', is designed by Danish design's leading lady, Nanna Ditzel, who throughout her life, has actively revolutionized the classic ideas of Danish furniture architecture and design. After a collaboration in 1986, Nanna Ditzel became a frontrunner at Fredericia Furniture, where she designed some of Fredericia's most acclaimed furniture, but throughout her active design period she has always been a frontrunner in Danish design, with her constant urge to challenge the status quo. The 'Ditzel Lounge Chair' was created in 1953 in collaboration with Nanna Ditzel's husband, Jørgen Ditzel, where together they created a chair based on Ditzel's design philosophy of organic form challenging the traditional idea of the seating experience. Over time, the chair has been optimised and fine-tuned to adapt the furniture to modern man, but without compromising the original design that is always at the centre of any interior.
Ditzel's love for the organic and the avangade, can be seen in her choice of materials and their processing. The chair rests on wooden legs in beautiful lacquers and oils, which with the slanted design, add a playful look to the chair. The shell, made of high-pressure PUR foam, has a beautiful unfinished cylinder shape that creates an enclosed space around the chair, perfect in the reading corner or larger open spaces to shield from the outside world. The exclusive fabrics from Fredericia Furniture's design universe complete the excellent seating comfort and give the chair an inviting look.
The 'Ditzel Lounge Chair' is available in a black range of fabrics and leather types in various colours. If you would like to design your own piece of furniture, please feel free to contact us by email or phone.
- Base made of solid wood fitted with metal threads. Upholstered seat in moulded cold foam, reinforced with steel frame. Upholstered in fabric or leather with welting in the same upholstery as the seat.
- For cleaning oiled wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or a cleaner for oiled wood surfaces is recommended. New oil must then be added to prevent the wood from drying out.
- For cleaning varnished wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. Never leave liquids on lacquered wood surfaces as this may cause the lacquer to delaminate.
- To preserve the original appearance of lambskin upholstered furniture, vacuum regularly, preferably weekly, with a soft nozzle at medium strength. In case of stain removal, the stain should be treated immediately. For stains on lambskin, the area should be immediately wetted with water, preferably from a spray bottle. Then clean with a sponge soaked in warm water and a mild wool shampoo. Clean in light circular motions on the soiled surface.
