J16 Rocking Chair' is one of the many pieces of furniture that stand out in Wegner's collection as a true classic. The rocking chair as a furniture type, caught Wegner's interest early in his career, which was one of the reasons why 'J16' was one of the first chairs by Wegner to go into production. Originating in 1944, when it was first produced, the iconic piece of furniture celebrates 75 years on the market, which is marked by a launch of the chair at Fredericia Furniture. Before then, the rocking chair has undergone adjustments in production to simplify the production method as much as possible without compromising on the exclusive quality. And it is precisely this quality that Fredericia Furniture ensures, with its exquisite carpentry that embraces the originality of the furniture. In the 1950s, dark wood was particularly characteristic of furniture in Denmark, as can also be seen in the new launch, but in keeping with the new era, the rocking chair is now also available in lighter oak and warm walnut.
One of the things that makes 'J16' so viable and why, to this day, it is still in high demand is Wegner's unique sense of proportion and quality. The footstool is made with the same qualities as the 'J16' rocking chair, with the solid wood frame in unique lacquers and treatments. At the same time, the seat is woven in the same beautiful pattern in paper yarn, adding an organic and raw element to the otherwise refined piece of furniture. The small piece of furniture can be placed in extension of the 'J16 Rocking Chair' to optimise the side experience and give the feet a break. Otherwise, the furniture can be arranged individually, adding extra seating or storage to any room in the house.
- Finished in soap-treated, oiled, clear or black lacquered oak and oiled and lacquered walnut. Seat in woven paper yarn. (Please note that some wood finishes and lacquers are available at extra cost)
- For cleaning lacquered wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Then polish with a dry soft cloth. Never leave liquids on lacquered wood surfaces as this may cause the lacquer to delaminate.
- When cleaning soaped and untreated a soft cloth, heavily wrung in a mild solution of soap flakes. Always wipe in the grain direction of the wood. Never use water on untreated wood surfaces if it can be avoided.
- When cleaning oiled wood, a mild solution of soap flakes or a cleaner for oil-treated wood surfaces is recommended. New oil must then be added to prevent the wood from drying out.
- When cleaning paper wicker, a gentle vacuum is recommended to avoid dust and discolouration. Moisture and wet stains should be removed gently with a soft cloth to protect the material.
