HAY Barro - Portuguese charm in Scandi style
HAY is known for its holistic approach to interior design, and there are no limits to what elements of the home can be reinvented in beautiful design. The new HAY Accessories collection presents a new series of frames created in collaboration with Portuguese designer Rui Pereira. The Barro series exudes Portuguese charm, with classic voluminous shapes and edges made from traditional terracotta stoneware.
The colour palette explores both classic terracotta reds with authentic hand-painted stripes and modern Scandinavian pastels, creating the perfect balance between tradition and trend. From plates, bowls, serving dishes and even cups, the collection is the perfect addition to your summer table.
Interior design in industrial steel
It's no surprise that steel is the number one material in interior design. Everything from kitchen utensils to furniture frames should be steel, whether it's polished or brushed stainless steel. Steel as a material adds an industrial and raw look to your home and is a great element to add texture and contrast to your interior design.
However, this isn't the first time we've seen steel make its entrance into the design universe. While you can see a shift from the overwhelming brass trend of the 10s to steel, it's fair to say that steel has always been a timeless material and brass was just a golden fad in the design world.
Organise your literature
Whether your favourite reading material is decorative magazines, beautiful coffee table books or heavy literature, you can experiment with its storage. A classic bookcase is the obvious choice, especially if your literature collection is of a larger nature, but if you simply want to showcase the most beautiful magazines or your favourite books, you can explore storage solutions such as magazine racks or shelves that showcase the beautiful covers. Often these storage elements offer a more space-saving solution, but the many sculptural shapes and unique designs can add a decorative element that no bookcase can match.
Red is the new black
If you take a quick glance at the latest trends and collections, you'll notice a common thread. Red dominates the latest interior collections, with everything from red lacquered furniture to red glazed ceramics. Whether you're a hardcore colour combiner or a true Scandinavian minimalist, you can easily incorporate the colour red into your interior design.
One of the most effective ways to use red in interior design is as an accent colour. This can be in the form of vases, posters, a simple shelf or small decorative objects that can add a pop of colour without taking over the room. This is a great way to experiment with red if you're unsure how it will affect the overall look of the room.
